Course Details
Pre-disaster recovery planning is very important post-disaster. Understanding roles and responsibilities and what needs to be done post-disaster ahead of time reduces the time for recovery, allows for better coordination amongst all recovery partners and stakeholders, minimizes/eliminates duplication of efforts; and maximizes the effective and efficient use of resources.
The course provides a brief overview of FEMA’s Just-in-Time (JIT) post-disaster recovery training, created to assist impacted communities navigate the disaster recovery process, and how FEMA works with its partners to deliver this training. Representatives from the Missouri and Mississippi Municipal Leagues will discuss their experience delivering the JIT training, and thoughts on the actions that communities would do differently now and what planners/cities should be doing to prepare for disaster recovery planning and management.
With this course, planners can conduct a gap analysis of the staff, skills, in-place plans, and other items needed for successful disaster recovery against what exists within their communities.
