About Me

Jonathan Connor graduated from Westfield High School in 2007 and was immediately accepted into Union College in Cranford, New Jersey. From there, he received an Associate Degree in Liberal Studies in 2010. After graduation, he worked on a couple of work projects such as a children’s picture book utilizing graphic design artwork, and then he wrote a book titled “A New Time”. In 2017 he was accepted at Rutgers University at the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences to complete a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Planning and Design, graduating in January 2020. Since graduation, Mr. Connor has volunteered at local ecological preserves, such as The New Jersey Great Swamp Watershed Association, D and R Greenway Land Trust, and The Hunterdon Land Trust. He has also been a committed volunteer secretary for the Sierra Club, Loantaka Group, since November 2020 and holds a future commitment for the remainder of 2023. Mr. Connor wrote for the Union County Hawk and Westfield Leader Newspapers for twenty months specifically covering Municipal Township Planning Board and Zoning Board meetings in Union County. He worked for The New Jersey State Park Service as a Natural Historic Resource Assitant and is pursuing a future career in Environmental Planning and Design. Mr. Connor attended continuing education with The NJ Agricultural Experiment Station at Rutgers University earning a Wetland Delineation Certificate in 2023. Most recently Jonathan Connor worked for EarthDay.Org as an Environmental Research and Publicist Intern.

 

Professional Biography

Jonathan Connor currently just finished an internship for EarthDay.Org as an Environmental Researcher. Prior to that he worked as a Natural Historic Resource Assistant for The New Jersey State Park Service. Before that, he was a Planning Reporter for The Union County Hawk Newspaper in Westfield, New Jersey, where he reported on weekly Municipal Township Planning and Zoning Board meetings. He is also demonstrating extensive volunteerism by currently working as a Secretary for the Sierra Club, and previously several Ecological Preserves in the New Jersey area. His work experience since graduation consists of reporting on the planning process, environmental research, secretarial work, park staff, email distribution, and more. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Planning and Design from The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. While attending Rutgers University, he studied landscape design, sustainability, urban planning, environmental studies, land conservation, North American Ecology, regional planning, climate change, ecological restoration, and more.
