Cynthia Hoyle is a nationally recognized leader and advocate of livable communities and safe streets. She was a pioneer in advocating for streets as corridors for all modes of transportation beginning with the groundbreaking publication of the PAS report <em>Traffic Calming</em> in 1995. Her contributions to creating safe, livable communities and training citizen planners have extended nationally. She is a noted speaker and author on the topics of mode choice and healthy communities. Cynthia's exceptional and sustained leadership and community service have left a legacy that will continue to create livable, sustainable, and healthy communities for future generations.

Professional Biography

Cynthia Hoyle, FAICP has been working at the local, state, and national levels to create safe streets for all users for over 35 years. Cynthia is a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners and the Institute of Transportation Engineers, and author of “Traffic Calming” published in 1995. She is a League Certified Instructor through the League of American Bicyclists, Chair of C-U Safe Routes to School Project, President of Ride Illinois, and is a member of the Sierra Club's National Board. Cynthia is President of Hoyle Consulting which is a planning firm that specializes in creating livable active communities.
