Erin N. Perdu, AICP, Begins Term as President of American Institute of Certified Planners

CHICAGO (January 22, 2025) – Erin N. Perdu, AICP, a Minneapolis resident, begins her tenure as president of the American Planning Association's (APA) professional institute, the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). APA is a nearly 40,000-member organization that provides leadership in the development of vital communities. The professional institute certifies planners and focuses on qualification, experience, and certification for professional planners.

Perdu will serve two years as Commission president and is responsible for leading the 11-member AICP Commission. She will represent the more than 17,000 certified members of APA's professional institute. This is a volunteer position.

With more than 25 years of experience in planning, Perdu is the planning group leader for Stantec's Midwest region, helping communities redefine what's possible when facing housing, climate, and equity challenges.

She has worked in both the public and private sectors, primarily in the upper Midwest, but also on projects from Valdez, Alaska, to Key West, Florida. Her areas of interest include long-range planning, zoning reform, and bringing national best practices to communities of all sizes.

Perdu holds a Bachelor of Science in Earth Systems from Stanford University and both a Master of Science in Natural Resources and a Master of Urban Planning from the University of Michigan.
